Very exciting. I’ll be doing an interview in the next few weeks with Maureen Callahan, author of a book called Champagne Supernovas. It tells the story of 90’s fashion, and those renegades who put a spark into an otherwise fairly hum drum fashion decade. It focuses on three characters in particular. Marc Jacobs, Kate Moss and Lee McQueen, otherwise known as Alexander McQueen. I’ll go into a bit more depth about this book later, but the Marc Jacobs story is especially fascinating. Famously fired from the label Perry Ellis for introducing a ‘grunge’ inspired element (which was a commercial and critical disaster) the collection has since gone on to become a landmark in fashion history of the last 30 years. Anyway, Maureen will be on Sunday Morning on Radio New Zealand National..listen out for it. I’ll post a review of the book also.
